Meathead Movers EEOC Case: What It Means for the Moving Industry
September 16, 2025State of Moving & Storage 2025: Key Takeaways on Efficiency, Pricing, and Lead Generation

The moving and storage industry enters 2025 with new data, fresh challenges, and promising opportunities. Reports from Supermove, SmartMoving, and other sources point to several key shifts that will shape the year ahead.
Efficiency is a top priority. Nearly 40% of moving companies say operational efficiency is their main goal for 2025. Leaders are focusing on leaner workflows, technology tools, and streamlined logistics to offset rising costs. Labor, fuel, maintenance, and claims remain the largest concerns, pushing many operators to cut waste and improve scheduling (Supermove).
Pricing appears to be stabilizing. Only 29% of companies expect to raise rates in 2025, a sharp drop from 42% in 2024 and 69% in 2023 (Supermove). At the same time, customers are more price-sensitive than ever, making transparent pricing and clear value essential. Poor quoting or hidden fees can damage both trust and conversion.
Lead generation continues to rely heavily on word-of-mouth. Referrals remain the most reliable source of new business, while channels such as social media and paid advertising trail behind (Supermove). With fewer moves taking place and tighter household budgets, many companies are focusing locally, building strong reputations and customer relationships instead of broad, expensive campaigns.
Other insights highlight where the industry is headed. The global moving services market is projected to reach US$111.23 billion in 2025, with growth toward US$159.67 billion by 2032 (Coherent Market Insights). Full-service and residential moving still dominate market segments. Additionally, moves are trending shorter in distance, with more families relocating within suburbs or nearby cities rather than across the country (Moovsoon).
The year ahead may be challenging, but companies that invest in efficiency, customer trust, and strong local networks will be best positioned to thrive.
