Customers do not always realize they need another box, lock, roll of tape, or furniture cover until they are already at the storage facility. If the office is closed, that small problem can interrupt the entire move.
An “After-Hours Supply Locker” could give renters 24/7 access to commonly needed moving and storage supplies. Customers could purchase items through the facility’s website or app, receive a temporary pickup code, and retrieve their order from a secure locker near the entrance.
The concept could improve convenience while creating additional sales outside normal office hours. Facilities could stock popular items such as locks, tape, mattress covers, small boxes, labels, and protective wrap without requiring an employee to remain on site.
Purchase data could also help operators understand what customers need most. If mattress covers consistently sell out on weekends or locks are frequently purchased after hours, facilities can adjust inventory and promotions around actual customer behavior.
What to do about it: Start with a few secure lockers and a small selection of high-demand supplies. Allow customers to purchase online and receive a one-time pickup code. Track which products move fastest and expand the program based on demand. The office may close, but customer needs do not.
